Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE)

The surgical team at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) have now performed more than 2,000 pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) operations – more than the entire rest of the world put together. The mortality rate after this operation at UCSD is the lowest in the world.

We have now performed more than 2,000 PTEs with a mortality rate of less than 5%. We do two or three of these operations a week.

To refer a patient or if you are a potential patient and you have any questions, please contact any member of our
