John M. and Sally B. Thornton Hospital is a 120-bed hospital built on the philosophy that when you are in a comfortable environment it is easier to heal. It is located conveniently in UTC/ La Jolla surrounded by scenic views of the rolling hills of the UCSD La Jolla campus. This is the primary site for our elective cosmetic and reconstructive surgery programs. Thornton Hospital contains an emergency room, a twelve-bed intensive care unit, a cardiac catheterization suite, and seven operating rooms. Additionally, we hold a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the adjacent Edith and William M. Perlman Ambulatory Care Center on the 2nd floor, Suite 2B. Click to view map

UCSD Medical Center - Hillcrest is a recently renovated eleven-story, 440-bed hospital located on the UCSD Medical Center campus in the heart of San Diego. This is the primary site for our trauma, burn, and emergency reconstructive services programs. The Hillcrest hospital contains extensive diagnostic laboratories, a large and well-equipped emergency suite, a twenty-bed surgical intensive care unit, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, a newly renovated interventional radiology, a thirteen-bed specialized burn intensive care unit, and eleven operating rooms. La Jolla Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The 355-bed La Jolla Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is considered the most modern and best-equipped VA hospital in the country. It provides a broad spectrum of programs and services including the full range of cardiothoracic procedures. The La Jolla VAMC services veterans residing in San Diego, Imperial, and southern San Bernardino counties. The professional staff consists entirely of full-time members of the UCSD faculty, and the chief of staff is an associate dean in the School of Medicine. An extensive outpatient program is provided at the VAMC and its satellite facilities at Mission Valley and El Centro, and in collaboration with two Veterans Centers. In addition to elaborate patient care facilities, it contains extensive research facilities. The VAMC is an integral part of the UCSD School of Medicine.Click to view map
